HEADTEACHER WELCOME

Message from our Head Teacher

Welcome to Haydonleigh Primary School’s website and to a school where ‘I am talented, together we are amazing’ underpins our philosophy.

We provide a secure and happy environment where the work is varied and challenging and every child and adult is valued. We set the children and ourselves high standards to enable every child to develop his or her potential to the full and become confident learners.

All parents are very welcome at Haydonleigh, and we see home and school working together as very important for your child.

Our website will give you a flavour of our school’s aims, the activities that the children are involved in, the achievements that we have gained and the wealth of memorable experiences that the children encounter.

I hope you enjoy the website and if you'd like to visit the school, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Food for Life

Garden beds

Due to the growth of the Haydonleigh building, we have recently moved some of our school garden.  New raised garden beds have been built for all classes, our polytunnel has been rebuilt and we are already growing!  So that we know what the children and kitchen staff would like us to grow, we have completed a survey of our planting wish list.  During the year, all children, throughout the school, will be able to work with our Haydonleigh Harvesters in this exciting development.  If ever you are at school please feel free to ask and come and see what we have been doing.

Healthy Eating Posters

At Haydonleigh, we understand the importance of healthy food choices.  We recently ran a whole school competition where the children were thinking about the food choices that they can make.  These are some posters created that share the important messages we talked about.

Cooking Club

During the year we run an after school cooking club.  Currently this is for year 4.  Using recipies from the Lets Get Cooking Scheme, children learn a range of skills that they can use at home.  To support this all our children have opportunities to cook during the school year.

Healthy Lunchbox Choices

Our food policy promotes healthy food choices for all children.  As a part of our curriculum, we encourage children to think about what they eat during the whole day.  For those children who bring a packed lunch to school we encourage them to make healthy choices.  Our school office has guidance for anyone who would like some ideas.
