The School Council met with me recently to discuss leadership. We started by thinking about famous leaders and then moved on to think about different jobs that require leaders. Once we had a long list the children and I discussed the qualities and skills needed to be a good leader. The children needed no prompting! The most pleasing aspect was that the discussion involved every member age 7 - 11 and the younger members of the Council had fantastic ideas. The children were not only able to name qualities but also explain, give examples and ask me how I used many of the skills they suggested. As a group, we all agreed that they each already demonstrated many of the skills themselves, however, we are looking forward to meeting again in the new year to develop our skills further through various activities.
